Warren Stanley, Business Project Manager for the Collision Analysis Branch of the Transportation Data Office enjoys the challenges and rewards his job has to offer. Warren works with federal, state, and local officials to continuously find more efficient and accurate ways to capture collision data from an average of 160,000 collisions reported on Washington State roadways annually.

Working with other agencies is Warren’s favorite part of his job. “It is very satisfying to complete a project that involves the participation of multiple diverse agencies. Being part of a driven team accomplishing goals bigger than what any single part of the team could accomplish is extremely gratifying,” he says.

Warren came to WSDOT in April of 1999. “After 10 years working with non-profits serving the developmentally disabled population I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to work at a place where I could make a difference. When I came to work at the TDO I knew I was making a big career change and had no idea what to expect. I knew that our work was important and that the data we produced was a key element in making decisions to improve safety.”

“When I arrived at the TDO a new system was being developed to capture collision data. There was a five year backlog in processing collision reports and at that time we were only collecting data for state routes. Today, I am proud to be part of a team that brought the backlog down to two months and now collects data for all roadways.”

Warren lives in McCleary with his two teenage daughters. He enjoys golf and is involved in the local car racing venues. His favorite series is NASCAR racing, maybe that is how he developed his dedication to collision data.
