Brian White

Hard work and perseverance, as well as a sense of humor, are qualities that come to mind when you think about Brian White. Brian is currently the Project Director for the $525 million I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East project in the South Central Region.

As a licensed professional engineer, Brian has been an important part of South Central Region for the past 16 years. Brian was hired in 1991 as a Transportation Engineer 1 with the Department after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Ore. At WSDOT, Brian worked in construction as a field inspector and then moved inside as a designer in the Project Development Office. In 2000, Brian was promoted to Program Manager for the SCR. As Program Manager, Brian had the opportunity to develop the region’s request for the Nickel and Transportation Partnership funding packages, and position the region best for the increased funding.

Just recently, Brian was promoted to the position he currently holds as director of the I-90 project.

“As project director the most rewarding part is seeing progress on the job,” said Brian. “There is never a dull moment as we deal with constant change.”

Brian is active outside of work. Recently, he was accepted to be a part of Leadership Yakima through the Chamber of Commerce. He is an active representative for the Corridor Revitalization subcommittee for TRANS-ACTION and is also the Vice President of the Board of Directors for District 5 Credit Union.

Brian has had the opportunity to build his career at the Department through hard work and dedication. It’s something he feels anyone can achieve if they are willing to take a chance.
