The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) makes these documents available on an "as is" basis. All CAD files were created with Bentley MicroStation (*.dgn files). The AutoCad files (*.dwg) were converted as a service to our customers that use AutoCad; however, no attempt has been made to ensure that there were no errors in the conversion process. The Receiver agrees that WSDOT cannot be held responsible for problems arising from files that have been converted.

Since revisions or additions to the design file standards may occur at any time, the Receiver agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WSDOT, and its officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims, suits, losses, damages, or costs, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising from the use of outdated design file standards, and such indemnification shall survive acceptance of said file(s) by the Receiver.

The online Standard Plans Manual, effective January 7, 2008, contains engineering drawings that are used for road, bridge, and municipal construction.

Drawings

Each drawing has been prepared under the direct supervision of a professional engineer, licensed in the state of Washington, knowledgeable in the specialized field of civil engineering depicted in that drawing. These drawings standardize fabrication, installation, and construction methods for specific items of work, and complement the contract documents and the Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construction. Superseded manuals may be accessed through the Standard Plans Manual Archive.

Standard Plans Process

Updating the contents of the manual is a continual process, and revisions/ replacements are issued periodically (approximately every eight months). See Explanation of Standard Plans Process for details.

Superceded and new plans awaiting inclusion in the next issue are available for viewing and downloading on the Future Standard Plans site. These may be included in forthcoming contracts as detail sheets, if needed. There may also be revisions to the plans made via the Standard Plans GSP.

Questions, comments, and recommendations for changes are welcome. A Comment Form is provided to encourage comments and to assure their prompt delivery. Use prints of the form to send any hard copies of marked-up plans, etc.

Legend: Standard Plans Online Manual

The online Standard Plans Manual offers three options:

Plans for viewing or printing as pdf files
CAD drawings (.dgn & .dwg)for downloading as zip files
technical commentary for viewing or printing as pdf files

Adjacent to each entry are links: view opens a .pdf version of the plan, and dnld (download) retrieves a .zip file containing the CAD files (.dgn & .dwg) of the respective plan. An underlined plan identifier, for example B-5.20-00, is a link to a technical commentary for that plan.

The next Standard Plans Manual revision, due approximately August 2008, will be posted to this page.
