The reinforced concrete retaining walls shown in the Standard Plans Manual (D-1a, D-1b, D-1c, D-1d, D-1e and D-1f) are no longer acceptable for use on projects. These plans will be replaced with new standard plans in the August 2008 revision package. In the meantime, for projects requiring walls, we have provided new retaining wall designs that can be incorporated into the contract documents.
These plans can be included in a contract in two ways.
The first is to use the stamped and signed drawings provided in a PDF format. These plans would be in the standard 8 ½ x 11 inch format and would be an appendix to the Special Provisions.

The second method would be to use the MicroStation drawings provided in the standard contract plan format. However, these plans are only available without a professional engineer's stamp because they could be altered. an engineer in one of the WSDOT regions or a local agency, with knowledge of structural design, would need to stamp and sign these plans.
