LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis) is an engineering economic tool used to compare economic investments for new construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation and maintenance projects. Initial construction and discounted future rehabilitation(s), maintenance, and user costs are factored in the analysis along with salvage value.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has developed a LCCA software program, download LCCA RealCost Setup (zip, 2.2 mb) , specifically designated to simplify this process using the FHWA Life Cycle procedure, LCCA RealCost User Manual (pdf, 0.3 mb).
LCCA program software is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with additional program functionality. This functionality provides the ability to perform either a deterministic or probabilistic "risk" analysis.
