Every year in the September 30th edition of the Gray Notebook, WSDOT includes its annual Congestion Report. (1.0MB, PDF). The following web pages include excerpts from the 2007 annual report. These travel time analysis pages compare the performance on popular commutes in the central Puget Sound region, using data from 2004 and 2006. Each route has information related to the duration of severe congestion annually and the reduction in throughput capacity based on a highway segment’s actual capacity.
WSDOT has added a list of projects for every route that are designated for addressing bottlenecks and safety concerns that, when completed, will work towards lessening the impact of congestion on that route. Projects under construction can be viewed on the active WSDOT projects page, and completed projects can be viewed on the completed projects page.
Finally, each page provides links to WSDOT’s traveler information websites, including the Puget Sound Flow Map, Current Travel Times, “Calculate Your Commute/ 95% Reliable Travel Times”, and live traffic cameras.
